Mieke Van Ingelghem
Educator
Mieke is lecturer, researcher, curriculum designer in UCLL University of Applied Sciences - Faculty of Teacher Education, Leuven Belgium, and co-founder of the International Educating Class, a UNESCO-based programme in Education for Sustainable Development. She is committed to allowing her students to engage in dialogue with students from all over the world and to realise together with them transformative learning environments on the campus and in the schools. At home, abroad, and online. She is the initiator of the UNESCO ASPnet Collaborative Change Experiment called “Teaching Together Global Citizenship for Sustainable Development (GC4SD)” (2021) and the author of the “Global Engagement Staff Lab on Education for SDGs in higher education”, a training programme of the Council of the Universities of Applied Sciences in Flanders (2021). In the past academic year she co-created a first in higher education in Flanders : a cross-university course bringing together international students studying in the different teacher education institutes to share and develop “Approaches of Innovative Teaching – Global perspectives”. Mieke’s key interest areas include Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), International Team Teaching, Internationalisation at home.
